Osimhen opens Galatasaray goal account amind injury scare
Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen scored his first two goals for Galatasaray on Saturday and celebrated with a funny message: ‘Finally.’
The Nigeria international had delivered two assists in the first two appearances for Galatasaray but found the net for the first time with the Turkish club in a home league game against Kisampasa on Saturday.
Osimhen hit twice in the opening 28 minutes, and after scoring the first one, he celebrated by showing a Galatasaray shirt with the word ‘finally’ written on it.
The Napoli loanee also imitated a goal celebration of ex-Inter captain Mauro Icardi when the Argentinean netted the third goal for Gala at minute 34.
Osimhen will remain on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli until the end of the season.
Galatasaray’s vice president, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, said earlier this week that the Nigerian forward will stay at the club in the January transfer window despite rumours.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Osimhen may be sidelined for up to two weeks after suffering an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa.
Early in the second half when Osimhen signalled to the bench, requesting a substitution after a challenge forced him off the pitch.
Although he briefly returned to the field after receiving medical attention, he was eventually replaced by Dries Mertens.
According to reports, Osimhen felt slight pain after being pushed off the pitch, which raised concerns about the extent of the injury. The Super Eagles star is set to undergo a medical evaluation on Sunday.
If the tests reveal no lesion, Osimhen could be back in action after just three days of rest. However, if the injury proves more serious, he may face a two-week recovery period.
The uncertainty surrounding Osimhen’s fitness has cast doubt over his availability for Galatasaray’s upcoming domestic and Europa League fixtures, as well as Nigeria’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
The timing of the injury is a blow for Galatasaray, who are looking to maintain momentum in both their league campaign and continental ambitions.
Nigerian fans will also be keeping a close eye on Osimhen’s condition, hoping for a swift recovery ahead of key national team matches.
