Osayi-Samuel set for Crystal Palace move as Awoniyi sees future in the Forrest

Crystal Palace are closing in on Super Eagles and Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel

The former Queens Park Rangers man was linked with a move to England during the last transfer window and, more recently, linked with Crystal Palace.

At the time, it was reported that the Nigerian international was keen to return to England following his spell at Loftus Road.

It’s claimed Crystal Palace have been in transfer talks with the right back and the Turkish media outlet says the player has been offered a four-year contract by the Premier League side.

According to Fotomac, Osayi-Samuel has been offered €4.5m a season, and the two parties are close to reaching an agreement.

Jose Mourinho has been keen to keep hold of the Nigerian, and despite being offered a contract extension by Fenerbahce, it seems like he will be leaving Istanbul at the end of the season.

He’s played 33 games for the Istanbul side this season.

Elsewhere, Taiwo Awoniyi has made clear his commitment to Nottingham Forest amid question marks over his future at the City Ground.

The 27-year-old striker has two years left on his contract with the Reds, having joined the club upon their promotion to the Premier League from Union Berlin in 2022 on a five-year deal.

But he has only started three times for the Reds in the Premier League this season, with 19-goal Chris Wood being Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-choice marksman.

A new striker will be on Forest’s shopping list in the summer transfer window too, which could push Awoniyi further down the pecking order, and a return to Union Berlin has been mooted.

But speaking to Humble Boots, Awoniyi made it clear the Premier League is the only place he wants to play.

“For me, it’s always the Premier League,” he said.

“My family, everyone knows. My agent, everyone knows it’s always the Premier League.

“I know when I will tell myself, ‘thank you, Premier League’. So, I still have two more years with Nottingham Forest. Thank God for that.

“Maybe after the two years if I don’t have any other option and I don’t have any other club, then I can pack my bags, but so far, so good, I’m still here two more years.”
