WBO cruiserweight champion Nigeria-born Lawrence Okolie hinted at a potential unification showdown on Friday evening via popular social media platform Twitter.

The post briefly read “Now finally, unifications”, suggesting a clash with one of fellow champions Arsen Goulamirian (WBA), Ilunga Makabu (WBC) or Jai Opeteia (IBF) could soon be on the horizon for the twenty-nine-year-old.

Okolie last fought in February when he unanimously outpointed the tough Michal Cieslak and has one more fight left on his contract with career-long promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing.

The Rio 2016 Olympian is rumoured to be unhappy with proceedings under his current promotional outfit however, appearing to take swipes towards Hearn in albeit vague tweets in July which have now been deleted, with Sky Sports and BOXXER reportedly interested in penning a deal with ‘The Sauce’.

Whether the potential unification clash will take place with Hearn and DAZN or elsewhere is unknown at the current time of writing but nevertheless is an encouraging sign as the quest to discover the number one man at 200-pounds continues.
