Abia Warriors gaffer, Imama Amapakabor has walked out on the club after his contract expired at the end of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professionals Football League (NPFL) season, 234sportsng.com can report.
The Umahia-based side punched below its weight in the just concluded 2022 NPFL season, finishing a distant 13th on the log with 50 points from 38 matches; a performance that did not go down well with the club hierarchies.
Coach Imama was offered two years contract by the club with an option for extension, but the former Sharks of Port Harcourt gaffer opted not to move for a new deal for reasons best known to him. He now joins the long list of NPFL coaches in the labour market.
It would be recalled that Abia Warriors had its prodigal son, Chisom Chikatara back in the club In the mid-season transfer window after an unsuccessful stint abroad, but his presence failed to give the club a much-expected lift In the second stanza of the league.
It remains to be seen how Abia Warriror's hierarchies intend to hire a coach with an intimidating technical savvy and track record to fill the void before the new league season kicks off.
