NPFL Super Six kicks off in Lagos today

The top six teams in the just concluded Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL regular season will begin the battle to be crowned the 2023 champions today in Lagos as the Super Six begins.

The Super Six is the playoff tournament that pairs up the top 3 finishers in Group A and Group B of the abridged league season.

In the draws made in Lagos on Friday, Former Champion Enyimba will kick off their campaign against Remo Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in the opening match of the round-robin league, by 2 pm

The defending champion, Rivers United will begin their defence in the second match of the day against Sunshine Stars at 4 p.m.

Bendel Insurance and Lobi Stars will take to the pitch by 6 pm which marks the end of day one activities.

A winner will be crowned on the 11th of June, 2023 after a round-robin of five matches by the teams which coincides with the end of the season in Europe as the organizer of the league is determined to align the NPFL calendar. with the European football calendar.

Apart from the jumbo pay of a Hundred million naira that the winner will take home alongside a trophy, the winner will also represent Nigeria in the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League.

The first runner-up will be the country's second representative at Africa's elite club competition.

The second runner-up will play in the CAF Confederation.
