NPFL Roundup: Enyimba thrash Gombe, Sunshine & Shooting fail to shine

Match-day 26 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2021/2022 season ended on Sunday with eight victories and two goalless draws. No away win was recorded.

Enyimba produced a spectacular performance as they thrashed Gombe United 3-0 at the Aba international stadium on Saturday.
Obioma Chukwuemeka, Victor Mbaoma and Cyril Olisema were all on target for the People’s Elephant.
In another venue, Dakkada stepped up their chances of beating the drop with a hard fought lone goal victory at home to second placed Plateau United on Saturday.
Ekerette Udom won the game for the home side with a header, 16 minutes into the second half. It was the first win for Coach Umar Danlami’s side after back to back defeats on the road.
On Sunday, the battle of the stars in Akure ended goalless between Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan.
The Oluyole Warriors have now recorded 5 points on the road this season, after their victory in Lagos against MFM and the goalless draw at the Pantami stadium against Gombe United.
Destiny Ashadi strike in the 56th minute ended Coach Deji Ayeni unbeaten run at Akwa United. Katsina United beat Champions Akwa United 1-0, as the Promise Keepers suffered their first defeat in their last seven league matches.
While Katsina United have now won back to back games for the first time this season.
At the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne, Remo Stars defeated Wikki Tourist 1-0 to secure maximum points courtesy, of Lekan Adebayo’s goal. Adebayo scored the only goal of the game with a beautiful finish inside the visitors box in the 26th minute.
Bottom club, MFM FC played out a goalless draw with Enugu Rangers in Lagos. The Olukoya boys are without a win in their last 3 games, as they remain at the bottom of the log.
Rivers United missed the opportunity to extend their lead ontop of the log as they lost 1-2 away at Kwara United. Rivers United went infront in the 2nd minute of the game through Nelson Ezor. But the Afonja Warriors managed to bounce back courtesy of Samad Kadiri and Jide Fatokun’s goals.
In the oriental derby, Heartland defeated Abia Warriors 2-1, to remain unbeaten in their last 3 matches. Murphy Ndukwu and Nonso Nzediegwu were on target for the Nazi Millionaires, while Godwin Obaje put one back for Abia Warriors.
