NPFL: Remo Stars eyes three points against Rivers United as Kano Pillars recall Abdallah

Remo Stars technical adviser, Daniel Ogunmodede, says his team will go all out for maximum points in the matchday 32 fixture against Rivers United.

The Sky Blue Stars currently occupy the top position on the table with 60 points, while Rivers United are second on the log trail with eight points.

Ogunmodede believes that the matchday 31 victory over Enyimba will serve as a big motivation for the team.

“Every game we will give our maximum fight, every game is important to us no matter the position of the opposition,” Ogunmodede told Remo Stars media.

“The next game against Rivers United won’t be any different; we will see how we can try and get the maximum points from the game.”

Remo Stars will lock horns with Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars coach Usman Abdallah has returned to his position as the head coach of the club ahead of their next fixture against Heartland following the lifting of the suspension placed on him by the club.

Abdallah’s suspension was lifted by the club on Tuesday after two months.

“All issues have now been resolved. Technical Adviser Usman Abdallah has returned after the misunderstanding with the fans and will lead the team for the remainder of the season. Welcome back, gaffer,” the club announced via X.

He was suspended for an initial three weeks, and the club cited his gesture towards the fans after their goalless draw against Bayelsa United on February 2.

The former Enyimba coach, who had questioned his suspension, also explained that all the misunderstandings have been resolved and the club’s ambition remains a strong finish in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League.

“There were a lot of misunderstandings, and we had several meetings with the management and the fans,” Abdallah told our correspondent.

In Abdallah’s absence, Pillars were led by former player Ahmed Garba, also known as Yaro Yaro, and the ex-midfielder managed 10 games consisting of four wins, three draws and three defeats.

The four-time NPFL winners are now eighth in the league with 44 points after 31 matches.

“There are players who have improved, and he is in the position to understand their roles. I trained with the team on Tuesday and chipped in some things while observing. We have to make sure we do well again and the target remains the same. The most important thing is the team,” Abdallah said.

Pillars will be back in action in the NPFL against the relegation-threatened Heartland in Owerri on Sunday.
