NPFL: Remo Stars defeats 3SC as Kano Pillars coach oozes confidence and says, ‘We can beat anyone’
Goals from Sikiru Alimi and Olamilekan Adedayo were both on target as Remo Stars defeated Shooting Stars 2-0 in the South West derby on Wednesday night.
Alimi opened the scoring for the hosts from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time.
The hosts doubled their advantage through Adedayo one minute after the hour mark.
At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, Ikorodu City extended their unbeaten streak to five games following a 2-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors.
Shola Adelani and Ayomide Cole were on target for the hosts in the game.
In Ijebu Ode, Rivers United were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunshine Stars.
Timothy Zechariah gave Rivers United the lead after three minutes, while Peter Awosanmi equalised for the visitors
Meanwhile, Kano Pillars head coach, Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro, has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to triumph against some of the toughest opponents in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Yaro Yaro assured fans that the team’s recent performances have shown their resilience and determination to excel.
It will be recalled that the Kano Pillars matchday 14 fixture against Enyimba has been postponed due to the latter’s CAF Confederation Cup engagement.
Yaro Yaro stated that the Sai Masu Gida would have relished the opportunity to showcase their quality in the game.
“Against Enyimba, we could have proven the doubters wrong because we’ve done it several times this season, even on the road,” Yaro Yaro told Kano Pillars media.
“Nevertheless, when the time comes, we’ll be ready,” Yaro Yaro stated confidently.”
