NPFL: Rangers beats Ikorodu City at home as Enyimba dims Lobi Stars
Rangers and Enyimba won their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League fixtures on Wednesday.
Holders Rangers recorded a 1-0 away win against Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Captain Chinemerem Ugwueze’s 25th-minute strike separated both teams on the night.
The final moments of the game were tense as expected, but Ikorodu City couldn’t maximise their chances as the visitors ran away with all three points.
The Oga Boys will host Nasarawa United in their next game on Saturday, while Rangers will proceed to Ikenne to face Remo Stars on Sunday.
The win was Rangers’ first in the NPFL this season.
Ikorodu City has recorded just one point from three games.
Enyimba claimed a 2-1 victory over Lobi Stars in Aba.
The former African champion side raced into a 2-0 lead with goals by Chinedu Ufere in the 13th minute and Eze Ekwutoziem from the penalty spot after 16 minutes of action.
Waheeb Adebayo reduced the deficit for Lobi Stars nine minutes before the break but the Makurdi club were unable to equalise.
