NPFL: Olanrewaju confirmed as Enyimba International Head Coach

Enyimba International of Aba has confirmed Yemi Olanrewaju is the head coach.

The young tactician took charge of Enyimba’s first training session ahead of the new season in Aba on Friday.

Olanrewaju was appointed interim head coach of the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, champions in May.

Before his appointment, he was assistant to Finidi George, who moved up to handle the Super Eagles.

The former Golden Eaglets assistant coach was approached by Finidi to work with him at Rivers United but opted to stay at Enyimba.

Enyimba finished third in the NPFL last season and will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup in the upcoming campaign.

The People’s Elephant were drawn bye in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The two-time African champions will face the winner of the preliminary round tie between Guinea’s Haifa FC and Rahimo of Burkina Faso in the first round.

Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors technical adviser, Aliyu Zubairu has thumbed up the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, board.

Zubairu commended the financial incentives and the synchronized schedule aligning with other leagues.

He urged football authorities to elevate the standards of stadium facilities in the country.

“It is disconcerting that only a solitary stadium meets CAF’s standards for Champions League fixtures,” the former Gombe United tactician told a cross-section of the media in Ilorin.

“This serves as a poignant indication of underlying issues that we must address.”

El-Kanemi Warriors will take part in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

The Borno Army are billed to take on Beninoise side Dadje FC in the preliminary round of the competition.
