Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is set to kick off on 28th December, 2022 if everything works out fine according to Totorinews

It was gathered that it will be an abridged league season and it is programmed to end in May, 2023.

It was further gathered that the fixtures for the season will be made known in Abuja on Monday and it is expected that all the representatives of the NPFL clubs will be in attendance at the event.

There is great excitement in the air that the league season will be better for any team that will emerge as champions judging by what was seen at the recently concluded at the NPFL Pre-Season tournament in Lagos where the winners earned N100m as prize money.

A league stakeholder who wants to be anonymous said that football loving Nigerians should expect better fortunes in the league this season, adding that clubs that finishes at respectable positions will smile home with something financially tangible.

“I think the new season will be better. It will kick off on 28 of this month. There are signs already to that effect. You can see what happened in Lagos last week where the club that won the  NPFL Pre-Season was awarded N100m prize money, which never happened before,” he said.

“Imagine N100m prize money. In the last dispensation, nothing like this was witnessed despite having sports marketing guru leading the affairs of the NPFL.

“The past is past and I don’t want to dwell on that. The future is what we look at and I think the future is bright for clubsides in the NPFL.

“I will urge every football stakeholder to support the NPFL and the IMC. I am very optimistic that they will do a good job and I hope that the clubs will be on the same page with them,” he said.
