NPFL: Lobi coach optimistic they will escape relegations as Insurance leave Kano with a point

The Coach of Lobi Stars Football Club of Markurdi, Tony Bulus, has said that his team still has the chance of surviving relegation from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

Lobi currently sits at the bottom of the NPFL table, with just 23 points from 30 matches, risking the fate of dropping to the Nigerian National League (NNL).

But Bulus, who spoke to journalists at Umuahia township stadium on Wednesday after his team lost 0-2 to Abia Warriors, maintained that hopes were still not lost yet as 8 games were still unplayed.

He defended his players' performance in Umuahia and declared that they played well despite their loss.

Coach Bulus, who charged his players to fight on till the last match of the season, advised that the public should not write off his team’s survival chances.

“We are fighting in all games. You can see that the boys are not playing badly.

“You can say that the team will go on relegation, but that is your own opinion. We can survive because nothing is impossible”, the Coach maintained.

Elsewhere, Bendel Insurance FC of Benin played a goalless draw away to Kano Pillars on matchday 31 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

It was a precious point for the Benin Arsenal who repelled everything thrown at them while also creating a few chances of their own in the game played at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

It was a grudge game for the visitors who had lost 1-0 at home in the reverse fixture at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.

Despite playing away, Insurance were full of confidence apparently from a 1-0 victory at home against Sunshine Stars last weekend. Insurance was prepared to take their pound of flesh in Kano, but the host gave insurance no breathing space in the games.

Insurance’s Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi expressed delight in the hard-earned draw, noting that players remained committed till the end of the season.

Insurance will host the defending champions, Rangers International of Enugu, in match day 32. The valuable away point at Kano Pillars has lifted the Benin Arsenals to 45 points and 7th on the log.
