Kano Pillars are crumbling on and off the pitch and their bad situation has been made worse with the series of punishments slammed on them Sunday night by the League Management Company, LMC.

Following the crowd troubles that greeted their inconclusive NPFL matchday 23 tie against Katsina United on Saturday, Pillars have been slammed with a N9m fine while have also been banished from Kano to the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The LMC also announced a three-point deduction from Pillars; adding there would be additional suspended points deductions in the event of another occurrence.

While the Sani Abacha stadium has been banned from hosting NPFL games, Pillars have also been mandated to repair the vandalised Katsina United team bus.

Before the LMC sanctions were announced Sunday night, Pillars had condemned in strong terms the act of hooliganism after Saturday’s game.

The club said suspected hoodlums carried out the dastard act that led to the destruction of yet to be quantified properties.

Kano Pillars media officer,  Idris Malikawa Garu described Saturday’s incident as unfortunate and surprising.

He said: “We strongly condemn the act by those hoodlums, we are short of words, particularly that this act of hooliganism is coming at a time when our brotherhood with Katsina fans is becoming enviable and sweet.

“Katsina United arrived in Kano peacefully and had their training peacefully and the match was going on peacefully, out of the blues some criminal elements disrupted the game and wreaked havoc on Katsina United's official bus and they did not spare even Kano Pillars bus, they smashed the windscreen of Kano Pillars bus, they are not one of us, I can tell you, this is sabotage.

Malikawa continued: “We thank Allah no life was lost, our visitors, Katsina United had their official bus damaged and they lost their valuables in the attack, we were able to arrange for one of our buses to convey them back home safely.

“We are disappointed, we have a strong sense of suspicion that the attack was premeditated by those who want to discredit Sai Masu Gida before the eyes of the world, we believe there was sabotage,  indeed the act was an act of sabotage.

“We are working with Kano state Football Association, Security agencies, the fans club and other critical stakeholders to unravel the mystery surrounding the ugly incident that happened at SAS on Saturday evening,” he concluded
