Kwara United came from a goal down to defeat El Kanemi Warriors by 2-1 in the NPFL match played Maiduguri on Wednesday to compound the home team woes as they continue to swim against the tides in relegation water.

Playing behind closed doors, Elkanemi Warriors took the lead in the 20th minute through Nnaji David but it wasn't enough as two second-half goals for Kwara United from the boots of Jide Fatokun and Godwin Oshagbemi confined Elkanemi Warriors to a routine loss having lost four out of the last five, and six in total this season thus losing grip of the relegation battle.

The Afonja Warriors won their first match under coach Kabiru Dogo, incidentally their first away victory away from home and second victory all season.

It was a pressure-easing result as the Harmony Boys went into the first stanza on a winning taking their total points to 9 points and finishing the stanza in 8th position, a point behind Shooting Stars and Gombe United on the log.

The Ilorin-based can now hope for a better second stanza after scoring only two goals ( in 8 goals ) before this game but scored two goals in today's match as Kabiru Dogo continues to perfect strategies to keep the team in the NPFL.

It was a thrilling encounter in Yenegia at the Samson Siasia Stadium as the defending champion was held by Bayelsa United to a 2-2.

Robert Miza last minute goal was all the host needed to wrestle a point off the match to continue their chase for survival.

Chiamaka Madu had finished off brilliantly to give the defending champions the lead in the 35th  to end the first 1-0.

The lead was cut off six minutes after the break as Daniel Ekpo equalized for Bayelsa United while Rivers United restored the lead through Malachi Ohawume in the 66th minute.

Both sides went in search of the next goal but fortune it was Bayelsa United that smiles last as Miza's late-minute goal dashed the hope of Rivers United leaving Yenegoa with all three points away.

Rivers United, with two games at hand, remained in third position with 14 points in group B five points behind Lobi Stars at the top and a point behind Sunshine Stars in second place.
