NPFL: Kumbi Titiloye promises a better Kwara United in the 2024/25 season

Kwara United chairman, Kumbi Titiloye has revealed the reason behind the team’s poor showing in the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Titiloye said late preparations affected the team’s performance throughout the campaign.

He also pointed out that the players failed to adjust to playing on the natural grass of the Kwara State Sports Complex in Ilorin.

It will be recalled that Kwara United returned to their home ground at the start of the 2023-24 NPFL season after playing three seasons away from Ilorin due to unplayable conditions of their pitch.

Titiloye assured that preparations will commence immediately for the upcoming season to build on the lessons learned from the previous season.

The Harmony Boys finished the season in 13th position. Meanwhile, the NPFL will introduce modern communication gadgets from the 2024/25 season.

NPFL chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, announced the new initiative during his interaction with the media.

“There is no perfect league anywhere in the world, and we are still going through the development stages,” Elegbeleye stated.

“By next season, we are going to introduce some gadgets for referees.”

Elegbeleye also highlighted efforts to strengthen youth programs across NPFL clubs. “We are also going to improve on the youth program because we made sure all the clubs registered all their feeders’ teams as part of the club licensing last season,” he explained.

Rangers won the NPFL title in the 2023/24 season with Remo Stars and Enyimba coming second and third respectively.

The new campaign will kick off on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
