Enugu Rangers demonstrated why they are one of the most consistent sides in the Nigeria Professional Football League following their emphatic 3-1 win over hapless Heartland on Saturday.
The Enugu based side was a handful for Heartland who came into the match hoping to make it their two straight wins after their emphatic 2-1 win over Abia Warriors last Sunday.
Heartland drew the first blood 13th minutes into the match through Sunday Yakubu to declared their resolve to pick another three points away from home.
But they met their match as Rangers rallied back through Ossy Martin's in the 22nd minutes to tie the game at one goal apiece.
Shedrack Asiegbu increased Ranger's lead' in the 40th minute to put the host on the driving seat as the centre referee signalled the end of the first 45 minutes.
The second half resumed with both teams seeking an edge but it was Archibong Esso who scored late in the second half to make 3-1/for the host as the Rangers ran away with three points to return to the third on the log with 45 points.
In the second match of the day, Abia Warriors defeated Remo Stars 2-0 to move to 12th on the league standings with 33 points.
