NPFL: Doma Utd, and Rancher Bees are back in the elite division
Doma United FC of Gombe have officially secured promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) from the Nigeria National League (NNL), becoming the first club this season to confirm their place in the elite division.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the club, which was relegated from the NPFL two years ago and has been working steadily toward a return.
Competing in Conference C of the NNL, Doma United finished top of the group with 26 points from 13 matches. Their campaign was built on consistency and defensive discipline, scoring 17 goals while conceding just eight.
The team’s home form proved decisive, recording seven victories on their ground, while also managing one away win and two away draws. Three away defeats were not enough to derail their promotion push.
The promotion represents Doma United’s second call-up to the NPFL and signals a strong comeback after the disappointment of relegation in the 2023/24 season, when both Doma United and fellow Gombe side Gombe United dropped from the top division. While Doma United have now bounced back, indications suggest that Gombe United may remain in the lower league for longer.
Elsewhere in the NNL, Ranchers Bees secured promotion from Conference D with 20 points after 11 matches, while Beyond Limits topped Conference A with 25 points, and Akwa United led Conference B with 28 points. Sporting Supreme, meanwhile, withdrew from the league.
