NPFL: Clubs and players begin planning for the 2024/25 season in earnest
Two weeks after the end of the 2023/24 NPFL season, clubs have started the new season which begins August 31, 2024.
Bendel Insurance defender Evans Ogbonda is attracting interest from Nigeria Premier Football League champions Rangers, according to reports.
Rangers are reported to have open talks with the highly-rated left-back.
The player is understood to have caught the attention of Rangers’ tactician Fidelis Ilechukwu last season.
Ogbonda netted three goals for Bendel Insurance in the 2023–24 NPFL campaign.
He also registered three assists in 35 appearances for the Benin Arsenals.
Ogbonda featured once for Bendel Insurance in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Also, Christian Pyagbara could leave Nigeria Premier Football League side Shooting Stars for another club.
According to reports, the former Sharks forward is attracting interest from numerous NPFL clubs following his exploit last season.
Pyagbara, who joined Shooting Stars during the mid-season transfer window, scored 10 goals for the club.
The Flying Eagles player is open to staying with the Oluyole Warriors.
The striker, however, wants an improved salary to commit his future to the club.
Gbenga Ogunbote’s side finished in fourth place in the 2023–24 season.
Elsewhere, Nigerian forward, Anthony Okpotu has joined the Saudi First Division club, Al-Adalah according to Daily Post.
Okpotu linked up with Al-Adalah from another Saudi club, Al-Ain.
The experienced striker netted 17 goals in 27 league appearances for Al-Ain last season.
The former Lobi Stars player was the third-highest goal scorer in the league.
Al-Ain however missed out on promotion to the top flight.
His new club, Al-Adalah finished in fifth position last term.
