NPFL club representatives’ favour abridge league as they meet on Thursday.

Representatives of the 20 clubs that will play in the 2023/24 season will meet in Abuja on Thursday to decide on the format that will be adopted for the season.

Our correspondents' checks with club representatives ahead of the meeting revealed that most of the clubs will prefer the abridged league but within a little tweak,

“Yes, most of us prefer the abridged league but the idea of picking  CAF Champions League representatives at the Super Six is unfair. We are advocating that leaders of the two groups should automatically represent the country in the Champions League while representatives of the country in other international competitions can decide at the Super-Six”.

The meeting is billed for Thursday, August 3, at the Sandralia Hotel in Abuja.

The Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Davidson Owumi, disclosed that the meeting is between the newly appointed board and the 20 clubs chairmen/general managers in the league.

Owumi hinted that at the top of the agenda for the meeting is the format of the 2023-24 NPFL season.

The meeting will also avail the new board the opportunity to share their vision and strategy for the new season.

The NPFL is returning this season with live streaming of games, which can be accessed through mobile devices in Nigeria and across the globe.

The NPFL is billed to kick-start on August 26
