NPFL: CAF assignment forced the postponement of the Kwara United vs Rivers United game
Kwara United have confirmed the reason behind the postponement of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 22 fixture against Rivers United.
The Ilorin-based club explained that the game was rescheduled due to Rivers United’s involvement in CAF competitions over the weekend, which made it impossible to proceed with the league match as originally planned.
To keep the team match-fit during the break, Kwara United have arranged a friendly against Na Royal Football Academy. The game is set for Friday, 23 January 2025, at 4:00 pm, at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
Kwara United will return to NPFL action on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, when they face Kun Khalifat FC in Matchday 23 at the Dan Ayam Stadium, Owerri.
Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes defender, Chibueze Ezeifule Damien, said that he is ready to return to action after a brief illness.
Damien missed the Ikon Allah Boys' opening fixtures of the second stanza.
The former Kun Khalifat FC defender was outstanding in the team’s defence in the first round.
“I’m fully fit now after overcoming the illness that kept me out,” Damien told the club’s media.
“I’m healed, well-rested, and ready to make a strong comeback.”
Niger Tornadoes will be up against Enyimba in their next game at the Bako Kontagora Stadium this weekend.
