NPFL: Boost for Heartland as they host River United as 3SC battles Plateau United in Jos

Shooting Stars technical adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote has urged his players to be psychologically ready for the match against Plateau United.

Ogunbote emphasised the need for the players to expect a tough battle with the confidence of getting a positive result.

Shooting Stars will slug it out with Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium, Jos on Sunday.

“We have everything going fine for us as we head into this game,” Ogunbote stated in an address to the players.

“But we must be aware of the fact that this is a team that is fighting to avoid the drop, so expect that they will come at us with force.

“All we need to do is to be focused and play our game with a positive mindset.”

Shooting Stars held Plateau United to a goalless draw in the same fixture last season.

Elsewhere, Segun Adekunle and Issa Gata have been ruled out of Kwara United’s Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 22 clash against El-Kanemi Warriors.

Both players will miss the game due to suspension.

Adekunle received his fifth booking of the season in the midweek defeat to Niger Tornadoes, while Gata was shown a red card in the match.

Both players have been key to Tunde Sanni’s side in their push for a continental spot next season.

Kwara United will face El-Kanemi in Ilorin on Monday.

The Harmony Boys occupy 12th position in the NPFL table with 26 points.

And, Heartland has welcomed back the duo of Suraju Lawal and Tobi Iyanda for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 22 encounter against Rivers United.

The duo returned to the team’s training after regaining full fitness.

Meanwhile, Daniel Ekpo is expected to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the game.

Heartland will lock horns with Rivers United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Sunday.

The Naze Millionaires were held to a 1-1 draw by Rivers United in the same fixture last season.

Onyekachi Okafor and Farouk Mohammed grabbed the goals from Heartland and Rivers United.
