The dream of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials making Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise switch to Nigeria may turn out to be a mirage.

The in-form football prodigy has been named in France's Under-21 squad.

Born in England to a Nigerian father and French Algerian mother, Olise id eligible to play for Nigeria, England, France and Algeria.

Recently, his father was reported to have said he wanted him to play for Nigeria.

The teenager will link up with the Bleuets at the Under-21 level for the first time in his career after a sensational season so far in south London.

Since arriving in the summer, Olise has scored four goals and earned seven assists from 25 appearances, winning the club's Player of the Month award twice.

He will be in contention to face the Faroe Islands on March 24th and Northern Ireland on March 28th. Both games will be played in Calais.

Olise's current international experience comes from a spell with France Under-18s, with whom he played twice. The 19-year-old is eligible to represent Les Bleus, England, Nigeria and Algeria.

In the last few months, NFF has done a lot to woo Olise with an opportunity to play at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup should Nigeria qualify being one of the carrots dangled before him.

If he answers this call up that means Olise has made up his mind to continue his career with France the country he represented at U-18 level.
