Nadal posits Alcaraz will mark an era in tennis

Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz has already written his name in tennis history but he'll create far more chapters in the sport besides this one.

Widely considered the best young player of this generation, Alcaraz is expected to be in the top of tennis for many years to come.

Compatriot Nadal certainly sees it that way as he called the youngster special, and Nadal doesn't use that word lightly.

‘’Normally what makes someone so special is being very good, nothing more," said Nadal to Marca. "When I say that he is special, I mean that he is very fast, that he hits very hard, that he has a great drive and a great backhand and that he has the ability to be a great tennis player.’’

Alcaraz was a bit luckier than most according to Nadal, particularly with his time or emergence but that happens:

‘’If we can analyse it this way, because Carlos is very special and he is a player who I think will mark an era, I also say with total humility, and this must not be lost sight of, that when Zverev, [Daniil] Medvedev or Tsitsipas arrived, Federer, Djokovic and I were still at a very high level."
