Mike Tyson makes N285 million from marijuana sales

Hitherto bankrupt boxing legend Michael Gerard 'Mike' Tyson now makes $500,000.00 (N285 million) from sales of marijuana thanks to its legalization by the state of California.

A man of many talents, he won the heavyweight boxing title twice in the 1980s, becoming one of the youngest fighters ever to do so in the process.

That was back on November 22, 1986, beating Trevor Berbick, when he was only 20 years and four months old, but that was now some 36 years ago.

In 1992, only six years after that success, Tyson was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape of 18-year-old model Desiree Washington.

His good conduct behind bars meant that he was free after a little over three years, and he returned to the ring aged 30.

Evander Holyfield beat him only months after his return, which led to a rematch with the famous incident where Tyson bit a chunk of Holyfield's ear off.

He was punished with a 12-month ban, though he didn't return to action until the age of 35, when he fell to another defeat to Lennox Lewis.

Tyson then retired aged 38, announcing that he was bankrupt in 2003, having lost a fortune which was once worth 300 million dollars.

Following retirement and numerous legal cases related to drugs, fights and women, he published an autobiography in 2013, titled 'Undisputed Truth'.

He also starred in documentaries, such as 'Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson (1993) and 'Tyson' (2008).

Beyond that, he has featured in cameo roles in films, such as 'Black and White' (1999), 'Rocky VI' (2006), 'The Hangover' (2009), 'The Hangover Part II' (2011) and 'Ip Man 3' (2015).

Recently, following the legalization of marijuana in California in 2016, the former boxer set up Tyson Ranch, a company selling marijuana grown on his plantation.

According to Cheat Sheet, Tyson earns as much as 500,000 dollars per month from the company, though he has previously confessed to spending as much as 40,000 dollars on his own marijuana for himself and friends.
