Messages in support of Romelu Lukaku have begun to flood in from teammates past and present alike after the Belgian striker was subject to racist abuse during the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and Inter on Tuesday.

Discriminatory chants as well as monkey noises were heard from sections of supporters in attendance at the Allianz Stadium during the game.

The 29-year-old issued a brief comment on Instagram on Wednesday morning, stating that he would like to see the league take action against the instigators ‘for real’.

A star-studded list of names from across the globe have come out in support of Lukaku, sending him their best and offering messages of general support.

Among them have been Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Mario Balotell and Patrice Evra, as well as compatriots Thibaut Courtois, Youri Tielemans, Radja Nainggolan and Dodi Lukebakio.

A collection of Lukaku’s former teammates have also commented on Lukaku’s instagram post, including Reece James of Chelsea, Anthony Elanga of Manchester United and Yanick Bolasie, formerly of Everton.

Inter players, including members of the current first team and those who played in previous squads have also been in touch with Lukaku, including Denzel Dumfries, Andre Onana, Achraf Hakimi and Marco Materazzi.

Inter released an official statement on the club website on Wednesday morning condemning the abuse that Lukaku suffered during the semi-final clash on Tuesday.

Juventus have done the same, insisting that they are working with the police to identify those responsible on the night.

In addition, the Belgian national team posted on Instagram with a message that read ‘no to racism’ along with a photo of Lukaku celebrating against Sweden from the recent international break.

His first club Anderlecht have also taken to Instagram to tell their former academy graduate “Tutti con te Rom.”

In response to a statement release by Serie A, rival club Milan have also sent a brief message of support, condemning racism or discrimination of any kind.
