Manchester United battle Chelsea and Spurs for Olise and Eze

Manchester United look set to sign the Crystal Palace duo of Michael Olise and Ebere Eze if they can overcome competition from Chelsea and Tottenham.

Manchester United alongside United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are also in the race but journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed it is the Blues that hold the advantage. However, football. London has reported, that talks are yet to be opened between Chelsea and Crystal Palace over a potential summer move for Olise.

But Chelsea have reportedly ‘agreed personal terms’ with Olise, while the Blues ‘consider the sale’ of a fellow forward.

The 22-year-old nearly moved to Stamford Bridge last summer as Chelsea thought they had activated his £35m release clause, only to be told by Palace that Olise himself had to activate it.

As per the conditions of the release clause, Palace would have needed to agree a fee with Olise to sell him – with £35m the minimum – and he would have passed that information on to Chelsea to see whether or not they were willing to pay it.

Olise ended up signing a new four-year deal at Selhurst Park, with Palace said to be furious with Chelsea’s conduct in negotiations.

His new release clause is thought to be £60m, which may well be a stretch for the Blues given their PSR concerns, but GIVEMESPORT claims they have now ‘agreed personal terms’ with the winger.

The report claims Chelsea are now ‘speaking to Palace regarding the scheduling of payments for his release clause as they push ahead to secure his signature’.

The deal is far from done and other interested parties could yet beat Chelsea to the punch if they put an offer on the table, but this represents a ‘big step forward’ for the Blues in their bid to land Olise.

Man United are also poised to race Tottenham to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Eze, 25, enjoyed a fantastic 2023-24 campaign at Selhurst Park and has enhanced his reputation further with an England call-up for the European Championships in Germany.

Tottenham are long-term admirers of the attacking midfield star and hold a strong interest in striking a summer deal with London rivals Palace.

However, a well-placed source has now told Football Insider that Man United are “very much in the race” to land the midfield star.

It is believed Eze is high on their list of potential targets and ticks a lot of boxes for the new-look INEOS recruitment staff at Old Trafford.

The two sides, who will both play Europa League football next term, are set to do battle for the midfield star in the summer window – which opens this Friday (14 June).

Eze struggled with injury throughout the 2023-24 campaign but managed 31 appearances across all competitions, starting in 26 of those outings.

He notched 11 goals and six assists, including three strikes in the last two games of the season against Wolves and Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old signed a fresh four-year deal at Crystal Palace in November 2023.

Eze joined the London club in 2020 from Queens Park Rangers and is now a four-cap England international.
