Man Utd fans raged against David de Gea after his horror mistake gifted West Ham a 1-0 win.

And many urged the Red Devils to rescind the goalie's new contract offer.

The shocking incident occurred 27 minutes into United's Premier League clash at West Ham on Sunday.

Said Benrahma got hold of the ball in United's half before freely dribbling towards goal.

Despite being surrounded by several defenders including Luke Shaw, Benrahma managed to get in sight of De Gea's net.

And he instinctively pulled the trigger as he was closed down outside the box.

But incredibly, he failed to palm the ball away strongly as his left foot appeared to slip slightly.

And De Gea instead sent it into his own net in a horror mistake.

The veteran was left lying face-down as West Ham went on to hold their goal and seal all three points.

And boss Erik ten Hag cut a distraught figure on the sideline as he immediately bowed his head.

It was a far-from-ideal error from De Gea, whose mistakes saw United crash out of the Europa League last month.

He is on the verge of penning a new Red Devils contract, albeit taking a huge paycut in the process.

And United fans have demanded the club rip up De Gea's deal, else they will take action themselves.

One supporter said: "De Gea I swear to god I‘ll rip your contract with my own hands."

Another declared: "If Ten Hag gives De Gea a new contract I’ll riot."

One noted: "Whoever is giving contracts at United should tear that De Gea contract up. We're tired."

Another added: "Bruh. De Gea is actually getting a new contract. Club is disgusting."

Match pundits also had plenty to say at half-time of the match.

Rio Ferdinand told BT Sport: "You can’t excuse it, it’s a bad mistake. I think he’ll take full responsibility for that. When you take a look, he does slip slightly, but that’s no excuse.

"He’s got full contact on the ball there, it’s not like he’s stretching and getting fingertips. It’s a big, big mistake."

Peter Crouch added: “David de Gea has had a shocker, we can’t dress it up. He can't set himself.

"But even then, if you look at De Gea’s position, he’s backpedalling, and then he cant get on the front foot at all. You cant justify it at all, it’s a terrible mistake.”
