Lookman looks back on Everton's days and his recent resurgence

Everton have seen a number of their former players leave and make a real name for themselves elsewhere over the years.

Players such as John Stones spring to mind when thinking about players to leave and excel, but Ademola Lookman can certainly be added to that list.

Since leaving Everton in 2019, Lookman has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or following a stunning 2023/24 campaign with Atalanta.

It has not been an easy ride for the Nigeria international throughout his career having played for numerous different clubs already.

Manager of Atalanta Gian Piero Gasperini praised Lookman as ‘magic’ recently having performed some heroics for the Serie A outfit.

But this is a completely different Lookman to what Everton fans saw at Goodison Park and he has now shared just what has changed for him.

Lookman was in Champions League action on Tuesday night as his Atalanta side hosted the reigning champions Real Madrid.

Former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti saw his side seal the points in Bergamo, but Lookman shone against the European heavyweights.

And speaking to CBS after the game, Lookman told Micah Richards playing more consistent football has helped him take his game to a whole new level.

“I’ve been able to improve a lot as a player and grown into a man. Playing my football consistently has also helped me to improve,” he said.

“I’m just learning every single day, learning to improve, and I still feel like I can improve a lot more in different areas of my game.”

“I think over these past two and a half years I’ve been able to have consistency in playing and that’s come into my game to help improve my game.”

Statistically, Lookman has become Serie A’s best player this season, which makes Everton’s decision to offload him five years ago look incredibly silly.

However, not many could have predicted this run which Lookman is on as he continues to impress.

Lookman was not the only former Everton player to play on Tuesday night in the elite European competition.

Arnaut Danjuma was slammed for his display vs Liverpool in the Champions League as Girona lost against the Reds.

However, Lookman enjoyed a lot more success as he was able to score a stunning goal against a star-studded Madrid side.

Despite scoring four goals last time out against Wolves, how Everton could do with a creative spark like what Lookman has developed into over recent years?
