Lautaro Martinez more suited to Man Utd than Osimhen - Scholes

England legend Paul Scholes has urged Manchester United to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan because he 'would suit Erik ten Hag's style of play' better than Super Eagles and Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

Ten Hag is in the market for a new striker after being forced to rely on loanee forward Wout Weghorst up front in the absence of Anthony Martial who has been hampered by injuries.

Harry Kane, 29, could leave Tottenham at the end of the season with just 12 months left on his deal and is reportedly wanted by the United manager.

However, former midfielder Scholes said he thinks the current chairman of Spurs is 'difficult to deal with' and that the England captain won't leave.

The Red Devils legend also said Napoli striker Osimhen would fit better at Chelsea, but Martinez would 'suit Ten Hag's style'.

Speaking to BT Sport, the 48-year-old said: 'I don't think Kane will leave Tottenham. I think it's difficult to deal with Dan Levy.

'I think Osimhen is a great player, but I think he is more suited for Chelsea. I think Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan would suit Ten Hag's style of play.'

Argentina forward Martinez struck a formidable partnership with Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku under Antonio Conte during Inter's 2020-21 title-winning campaign in Italy.

Last year, the 25-year-old was linked with Chelsea and Tottenham - where he would have joined up with former boss Conte.

Osimhen has cemented his status as one of the world's most potent strikers at Napoli this season and is the top scorer in Serie A.

He has scored 23 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions and is expected to be in high demand once the summer transfer window opens.

The 24-year-old has been vocal in his admiration of playing in the Premier League.

He provided another update on his future when questioned about United's apparent interest in an interview with Sport1.

'I don't know what the future holds. I think I'm on the right track,' said Osimhen.

'At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and discuss everything. I will also be in talks with the club.

'I am incredibly grateful to Naples. We will find a good solution together.'
