Led by the committee’s chairman, Mr. Bolaji Yusuf, the delegation were received by the Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Chairman Hon.David Famuyiwa, who seized the opportunity to declare his unwavering support for the grassroots football tournament.

He applauded the Lagos State Football Association board headed by Ogboni Fouad Oki for their commitment and creation of a viable platform for young and talented footballers to exhibit their talents.

Famuyiwa said “the Lagos Street Soccer championship is an opportunity for our youth to be exposed to competitive grassroots football. This is one championship I strongly believe will harness new talents and above all solidify the synergy within various communities in Lagos state.

“Within the nook and cranny of Agbado Oke-odo we have abundant talented footballers who are looking for an opportunity to display their talents and compete amongst their peers. I am excited this will give them a window opportunity to achieve their dreams.

“We have different football facility centers across our communities which I am imploring the Lagos Street Committee to consider as one of the centres to host games during the championship.

“When youth are ideally engaged in positive and productive activities such an environment is at the forefront of producing resourceful individuals.”

In his reaction. Mr. Bolaji Yusuf was optimistic that the objective of the championship would be achieved as different critical stakeholders are showing interest to support the championship.

“This courtesy visit is to ensure we engage critical stakeholders across the state to certify our quest to put in place a strong foundation before the championship kick-off”, said Bolaji Yusuf.

The 2023 Lagos Street Soccer championship will kick-off on October 15, 2023 with the opening ceremony and official kick-off of the 5-a-side football championship to be held at Obele Odan Playing Ground, Surulere, Lagos. Over 1,000 teams across Lagos State are expected to compete in the tournament.
