Joshua's ‘killer driver’ was previously sacked for reckless driving

The driver charged over the Anthony Joshua death crash was previously fired by a British businessman for allegedly driving an SUV into a ditch.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, appeared in court this month, accused of causing the deaths of the boxer’s two best friends by dangerous driving.

Kayode faces life in jail if found guilty over the fatal crash in Awoyaya, Nigeria, on December 29.

Sina Ghami, Anthony Joshua, and Latif Ayodele are sitting at a table with a scenic view in the background.

But the Sun on Sunday can reveal that a little over a year before the fatal smash, Kayode was sacked for allegedly driving another SUV off the road and into a ditch.

The accident in October 2024 happened when Kayode became distracted while driving his boss in his black Infinity QX56 for a work trip, a source said.

They added: “Kayode had been employed for some weeks. He was very attentive. He always took the bags and opened doors. He was very polite.

“But on one trip, they were in a village, and suddenly he went into the ditch. No reason caused the accident.

“He drove over a gutter on the side of the road when it was totally avoidable. There was no reason that was obvious to cause the accident.

“After that, he wasn’t trusted to pay attention properly. He was sacked for being ‘absent-minded’.

“Nobody was hurt, but the car had a nasty dent and scratch at the front of it, and two tyres were punctured.”

Strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Latif Ayodele, both 36, were killed when the car they were in ploughed into a stationary truck.

Ex-world heavyweight champ Joshua, 36, was pulled out of the wreck with minor injuries.
