Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has stated clearly that he is not expecting an easy draw for Nigeria ahead of this weekend's 2022 Qatar World Cup FIFA playoff draws for Africa.
In a chat with 234sportsng at the ongoing AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon, Iwobi hinted that he is not looking forward to seeing the Super Eagles go through an easy route to Qatar given the pedigree of teams that made it to the playoffs.
He said all the teams that made it to the playoff have what it takes to qualify for the World Cup, and that it will be wrong to underrate any team given the steady progress made by teams once regarded as minnows in African football.
The Everton midfielder however boasted that Nigeria will be ready to face any opponent in its quest to book a passage to Qatar.
" We are looking forward to the draws even though our focus now is on the AFCON, but since we cannot pick any preferable opponents, we are  ready to face any team to qualify for the World Cup," Iwobi told 234sportsng.com
The draws come up in Douala on January 22 where the 10 teams will be divided into two levels with November 2021 FIFA ranking taken into account. The five highest-ranked teams will square up with the five lowly ranked teams in two-legged encounter with the winners booking a passage to the World Cup.
The highest-ranked teams are Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Nigeria while the lower ranked team is Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, and Congo DR.
