Iran, a country of 88 million sends one athlete to Budapest 23 World Championships

Iran, a country of about 88 million people is sending just one athlete to the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest.

The athlete is Woman Farzaneh Fasihi.

.Iranian man sprinter Hassan Taftian failed to earn a quota to participate in the prestigious competition. Fasihi will represent Iran in the women’s 100 meters.

The 2023 World Athletics Championships are scheduled for August 19 to 27 in Budapest, capital of 15, 2023.

Fasihi won a silver medal in the women’s 100 meters at the 2023 Asian Athletic Championships.

Her winning time was 11.39.

The gold medal went to Singapore’s Shanti Pereira, who clocked 11.20.

Chinese athlete Ge Manqi won the bronze medal with 11.40.

The 25th edition of the Asian Athletics Championships started in Bangkok, Thailand on July 12 and will finish on July 16.

The competition serves as a qualification stage for athletes hoping to participate at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
