‘Individual training’, by a ‘personal coach’, may have led to Boniface’s Milan medical failure
It seemed like Victor Boniface would be AC Milan’s next summer signing. However, the Nigerian has not joined, and will not.
The news has filtered through that the Rossoneri have opted against the move, and Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director has stated that they will not renegotiate at this time. So, in other words, the deal is done, and he will not arrive.
It is nothing new for players to fail medicals, though the concerns with Boniface led to the Diavolo seeking further medical opinion. From this, a problem with the striker’s knee was identified, and this was what caused the club to say no.
As Kicker reports, he now returns to Germany, thanks to the ‘abnormalities’ shown in his right knee during a fitness test. However, the reason this came about is rather unfortunate.
Rather than the issue springing up again, an existing issue appears to have been worsened by an ‘individual training programme’ set by a ‘personal coach’, as the report states.
Meanwhile, Boniface has maintained that he remains confident in his abilities despite his failed transfer to Serie A giants AC Milan.
Boniface seems to be calm. But this was after an outburst on social media, where he called out Nigerian fans who wrongly criticised him for being unprofessional and unserious with his career.
Boniface's response to his critics on Instagram blew up quickly, and transfer expert Fabrizio picked it up and shared it on his page.
The Italian journalist misconstrued Boniface's post and captioned it as a message to Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.
But the Super Eagles sent him a message to clear the air about the post. Boniface warned Fabrizio to take the post down, which the Italian journalist did.
After the issue with Fabrizio Romano, Victor Boniface, who is known to be a jovial character on social media, responded to some fans on Snapchat.
He affirmed that he is confident in his abilities and stated that the setback will not bring him down.
Now that the AC Milan episode is over, the Super Eagles star and his management team have to start exploring other options.
Apparently, Bayer Leverkusen coach Erik Ten Hag does not favour him. So he might have to leave Die Werkself for a club where he is assured of regular game time.
