Giannis set to close the chapter on his Bucks career

It doesn't seem like Giannis is willing to let bygones be bygones and is set to close the chapter on the Bucks.

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. That's true in every walk of life, but especially true in professional sports, where it's uncommon for players to spend their entire professional careers with the same team.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have hoped to break that trend in the NBA. Giannis has spent the first 13 seasons of his NBA career with the Bucks, winning two NBA MVP awards and bringing an NBA Championship to Milwaukee in the process. This past season was chaotic, to say the least, and everything continues to point to both sides going their separate ways this summer.

Rumours have circulated for months now that the player wants to move on. The Bucks aren't in the best spot as an organisation, having just seen Doc Rivers depart, and the roster needs quite an overhaul. At 31 years old, Antetokounmpo needs a better environment around him to thrive once again. Despite Giannis still having a year left on his contract, he remains steadfast that he must leave for the betterment of both him and the team.

There have been plenty of trade talks regarding Giannis on the team's part, and it "is only going to continue" as the NBA Playoffs wind down.

"The crux of this is that Giannis has believed for a period of months now that it's time for both sides to move on. The Bucks obviously felt last year that they had a team that could compete, and when you have Giannis on your team, you do everything you can... But this is a team that has gone all in over and over again, and I think it has reached the point where you have to ask: how much more all-in can you go? Do you even have the pieces necessary to do so?"

Giannis doesn't seem to think the organisation is ready to go all-in again. And since it hasn't worked out in recent years, it may be time for the Bucks to rebuild, while Giannis gets a better shot at a ring somewhere else.

The New York Knicks have been the most linked team to Giannis, although the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors still make a lot of sense.
