Giannis gets brutally honest about the Bucks’ situation
NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have struggled so far in the 2025–26 NBA season.
It started well for the team, as it won four of its first five games in the campaign, but months later, the Bucks welcomed 2026 with just a 14-20 record. Being below .500 is surely not ideal for Milwaukee, and Antetokounmpo has shared his honest thoughts on his team’s situation following a disappointing 114-113 loss at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday at the hands of CJ McCollum and the visiting Washington Wizards.
Here’s what the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player said, via Bucks Lead: “We’re 11th in the East. My whole career, we’ve had winning seasons. January to February before the [All-Star] break, you gotta stack up wins, and we have a tough schedule.”
“I don’t think people understand— this can make us or break us. I don’t want to break, I want to be made. As a leader, I gotta keep myself accountable, keep on trying to do the right thing, keep on moving the ball. I gotta playmake more, and just hope that can inspire people to follow and try to do the right thing.”

The Bucks have to start winning games
Antetokounmpo wants at least a bit more sense of urgency for the Bucks as a whole, especially given how things have gone for the team in the early portions of the season. The NBA Playoffs are still months away, but putting themselves in a much better position to make the postseason is a clear priority for Antetokounmpo and company, who are just 11th in the standings in the Eastern Conference.
There is work to be done on both ends of the floor for Milwaukee, and they have to be addressed for the team to turn things around and win games more consistently.
The Bucks will begin their 2026 journey this Friday, when they host the Charlotte Hornets.
