FINALLY: Chelsea reveal completion date for Todd Boehly takeover
The Blues revealed the cheering updates in an official statement on Saturday
Chelsea have confirmed that they have reached a 'final and definitive' agreement to sell the club to Todd Boehly, whose takeover is expected to be finalised on Monday 30 May.
The Premier League and UK government gave their respective approvals to the deal earlier this week, boosting the chances of the takeover being completed before Chelsea's current license runs out on May 31.
There have still been small fears that the deal may miss that deadline, but Chelsea released a statement on Saturday to put those concerns to bed.
"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that a final and definitive agreement was entered into last night to sell the Club to the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital consortium," the club said.
"It is expected that the transaction will be completed on Monday. The Club will update further at that time."
Chelsea have already been granted a provisional new license which will permit them to begin their transfer dealings as soon as Boehly takes over, with the American readying some sizeable plans to close the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool.
