Federation Cup: Rangers and Enyimba dream of 2025 title

Rangers assistant coach Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu has admitted that the Federation Cup Round of 32 clash against Oriental neighbors Heartland was tough.
The Flying Antelopes defeated Heartland 5-3 on penalties in a keenly contested match at the Awka Township Stadium on Wednesday.
The game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
Ekenedilichukwu declared that the team’s target is to win the 2025 President Federation Cup title.
He also commended his players for their determination in securing the win.
“It was a tough match, as expected, but we gave our best to emerge victorious over our neighbors, Heartland,” Ekenedilichukwu stated.
“We keep working on the team as our target remains going as far as winning the trophy for the seventh time.” Rangers finished as runners-up in 2023.
The Rangers will square up against Bendel Insurance in the Round of 16.
Elsewhere, Enyimba's head coach, Stanley Eguma, has set his sights on winning the 2025 Federation Cup title with the club.
The People’s Elephant defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 in a Round of 32 contest on Wednesday.
Christian Nnaji scored the winning goal in the 27th minute.
Enyimba will face Abakaliki FC in the Round of 16.
“We will keep pushing after this hard-fought win over El-Kanemi Warriors until we reach the final and, hopefully, win the trophy,” Eguma said after the game.
The Aba giants have won the President Federation Cup four times.
They last tasted success in a competition in 2014.
