Super Eagles and Kaizer Chiefs stopper, Daniel Akpeyi has said that he is willing to bid his time as he looks forward to having a taste of the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
In an exclusive chat with 234sportsng.com on Thursday night, Akpeyi disclosed that he is not losing his head despite being confined to a bench role by interim coach Austin Eguavoen. He stressed that he is willing to keep working hard to earn his place in the team.
The former Warri Wolves star dropped to third in the pecking order of goalkeepers in the team due to injuries and a dip in form last season at Kaizer Chiefs. He was later supplanted by form Maduka Okoye as Super Eagles no. 1 while Francis Uzoho is second on the goalkeeper's ranking.

Akpeyi admitted that the duo of Maduka and Uzoho look untouchable considering their sterling form at the moment, adding that all he can do is to rally behind the team and support his teammates.
" The two guys between the sticks are doing extremely well, and you will agree that no coach wants to change a winning team.
" I will continue to support them because it is not about me but the team. We want to win this tournament for our country and it doesn't matter who is between the stick, all we need is the result," he said.
Nigeria will square up with Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the second round on Sunday after the North Africans emerged as Group F best losers.
