Euro 2024: Ollie Watkins claimed he foretold his goal and Palmer’s assist

England and Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins stole the headlines as he netted the winning goal against the Netherlands to send Gareth Southgate’s side to the Euro 2024 final.
England put on their best display of the tournament on Wednesday evening as they edged past Netherlands to win 2-1.
Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer came on as the super subs and combined to score the winning goal in stoppage time.
Watkins has now revealed what he told the Chelsea playmaker before coming on.
Speaking after his sublime winning goal, Watkins revealed that he predicted what would happen before the game.
“I swear on my life, my kid’s life, I said to Cole Palmer, ‘We’re coming on today and you’re gonna set me up’.”
The Villa frontman has now made a strong case to start against Spain in the final, or at least, come on as the first substitute against tiring legs.
Watkins takes his tally up to a staggering 28 goals whilst laying on 13 assists this season and will have put clubs on red alert.
Watkins was already being linked with a move to Arsenal before the tournament and now he’ll likely be of serious interest to several clubs around the continent.
, Aston Villa are in a strong position to keep ahold of him this summer with Champions League football on the horizon.
Further, there has been no indication that he’d even be willing to leave the West Midlanders if an offer arrived.
