Erik ten Hag unfazed about his future despite humiliation by Spurs at home
Man Utd were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.
Erik ten Hag insists he is not thinking about his Manchester United future and the club hierarchy are well aware it will take 'some time' before they reap the rewards of sticking behind him in the summer.
United undertook a strategic review following the end of last season and despite sounding out other managers, opted to stick by the Dutchman, having felt there was mitigation for their worst-ever Premier League finish.
Ten Hag's side struggled for consistency throughout his second season, with injuries playing a huge part in why they struggled for results and lacked a clear identity on the pitch.
Those injury issues have largely been resolved now though, with far more scrutiny on Ten Hag after another summer transfer window in which he was backed handsomely by the board. Despite having a nearly fully fit squad, United were thumped by Tottenham at the weekend, with Bruno Fernandes' red card merely a distraction from the harsh truth that they were comfortably beaten on the day.
United's second successive 3-0 home defeat in the Premier League raised fresh scrutiny on Ten Hag's position, but speaking after the loss he insisted he still had the backing of the club.
"No, I am not thinking about this," he told a press conference. "We all made it together, this decision to stay together, as an ownership, as a leadership group in the summer. Also, we decided on a clear review of what we have to improve as an organisation and how we want to construct a squad. All the decision-making was in togetherness.
“Also, we knew it would take some time because of how the window went, some players late in like Ugarte, we integrate him now. Also, we had to do some recruitment in the organisation, we still had to deal with some impact players. Also, impact players, we will get better there. We need some time and we are all on one page. The leadership group, staff, and the players' group as well. I don't have that concern."
