Manchester United’s top-four hopes took another hit as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday with Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho getting the goal for the visitors.

Ralf Rangnick’s side were somewhat fortunate to get even a point, in what was another below-par performance from United.

Iheanacho put the Foxes in front after the break, before Fred got the home side level almost immediately. Maddison thought he had won it late on for Leicester, but VAR disallowed the goal for a foul in the build-up.

The draw leaves United three points behind Arsenal in fourth, having played two games more.

United were without Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese star was ruled out with illness, and in the first half they played like a side missing their main man.

After missing a couple of earlier chances, Iheanacho finally broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute.

Unfortunately for the Foxes, their lead lasted only for three minutes as Fred fired United back into the game on what was his 100th appearance for the club.

Maddison thought he had secured a potential late victory in the 80th minute but his effort was chalked after the referee consulted VAR for a second look.
