Southampton vs Chelsea

Joe Aribo was on the winning side on Tuesday night as Southampton came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at St Mary's in the Premier League clash between both teams.

Though Aribo who came on as a 60th minute substitute did not score against the Blues, he and his teammates did enough to see through their slim lead over Thomas Tuchel's men.

Many had tipped Chelsea to follow-up their morale-boosting win against Leicester with another win tonight but instead, they slumped to a miserable defeat against the Saints.

The Blues actually had the game going their way at the start to proceedings at St Mary's as Raheem Sterling continued from where he stopped against Leicester as he netted a composed opener for the Blues in Tuesday's tie.

However, Romeo Lavia's pulled the Saints level with  a fantastic effort from distance moments after.

It then got even worse for the Blues as Adam Armstrong completed the hosts' turnaround just before the break.

It could have been worse for Chelsea but one of their Summer signing Marc Cucurella deprived Southampton of their third.

The Spaniard made a stunning second-half clearance to keep Chelsea in the game.

Thiago Silva was required for another crucial clearance with 15 minutes left on the clock as Chelsea's uninspiring performance sees their inconsistent start to the campaign continue.

Elsewhere, Alex Iwobi played a defence-splitting pass to Anthony Gordon to score another fine goal as Everton were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United at Elan Road.

The Toffees had shot in front in the 17th minute with what was their first shot on target but Leeds United ensured they had a share of the spoil with their equalizer, ten minutes into the second half.

Sinisterra scored the equaliser for Leeds to deny Iwobi and his teammates what could have been their first win of the season.

A similar 1-1 scoreline was the outcome of the Crystal Palace and Brentford clash at Shelhurst Park.

Wilfried Zaha 's second-half stunner intialy appeared to have secured a much-needed three points for Crystal Palace in a lively encounter against Brentford, only for Yoane Wissa's last-gasp strike to provide a late heartbreak for the Eagles.
