Elon Musk and Rio Ferdinand congratulate Ronaldo as he sends Messi’s record to the archive
Tesla and social media platform, X owner, Elon Musk, has congratulated football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese netted twice in Al-Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Gharafa in the AFC Champions League on Monday.
Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, also reacted to Ronaldo’s feat.
Ronaldo continues to add to his legendary status. Time seems to not affect the Portuguese forward, who once again shone by scoring twice in Al Nassr’s victory over Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League. Remarkably, like a fine wine, he seems to get better with age.
Ronaldo’s incredible number of goals after the age of 30
His two goals on Monday mean Ronaldo has now scored 450 goals after turning 30. This milestone brings him closer to his goal of reaching 1,000 career goals, as he currently has 913, including 18 goals and four assists in all competitions this season.
Ronaldo also became the first player to score 150 goals in Champions League competitions, counting both his UEFA Champions League and AFC Champions League strikes.
In his 23rd season, Ronaldo continues to impress with an average of 0.84 goals per game. Additionally, his two goals on Monday allowed him to break a new record, previously shared with Argentine star Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo became the first player in history to score more than 40 goals in 13 different years, surpassing Messi’s record of 12 years with 40 or more goals in a calendar year.
“Big win tonight,” was Ronaldo’s brief but powerful message on social media after Al Nassr’s significant victory over Qatari club Al Gharafa.
