Eguavoen Tasks Striker To Feast On Carthage Eagles

Interim Super Eagles gaffer, Augustine Eguavoen has started in clear terms that there will be no margin for error against Tunisia and has therefore tasked his strikers to convert their scoring chances come Sunday.

Group D winner Nigeria faces Tunisia on Sunday after the North Africans emerged as Group F's best losers with eventual winners heading to the quarter-finals, but Eguavoen has tasked his wards to go for the kill against Carthage Eagles and avoid an upset.

The former Enyimba coach urged his player to take full advantage of playing at the Round Adjia stadium, which according to him has become slaughter grounds for Nigeria's opponents.

" We are going all out against our opponents and I have told the striker to bury their chances. We won't have that luxury of many scoring chances like we did in the group stage because the competition tends to become more difficult as the competition progress.

" We have been working on our scoring abilities. Garoua has been a good ground for us and we hope to take good advantage of it and I hope we get it right against Tunisia God willing," he said on Friday.

Eguavoen then heaved a sigh of relief as Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho return to training on Friday after he was excused on Thursday. It would be recalled that Eguavoen was in charge when Nigeria defeated Tunisia on penalties in the quarter-finals of 2006 AFCON in Egypt.
