Djokovic to miss Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he will not be able to compete at the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open, as he remains unvaccinated against COVID-19.

The Serb had hoped that there would be some changes to the regulations that would allow unvaccinated players to play, but this has not occurred.

“While I was automatically listed in the [Indian Wells Masters] and [Miami Open] draw I knew it would be unlikely I'd be able to travel," Djokovic wrote in a tweet.

"The CDC has confirmed that regulations won't be changing so I won't be able to play in the US. Good luck to those playing in these great tournaments."

Djokovic will focus his efforts on the European clay court tour, which gets started in April with the Monte-Carlo Masters and ends at Roland Garros.
