Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis and teammate Ismaila Sarr who have been tipped to move from relegated EPL side Watford may start the season with the club if they do not secure transfers away from Vicarage Road.

Watford's campaign in the Championship starts at home to Sheffield United on August 1.

Both players have been training at London Colney this week and are due to join the first-team squad when they return from Austria on Monday for training.

The duo were later coming back after being on international duty and the club couldn’t get a visa in time for them to travel to Austria.

However, they will be part of the first-team squad for the time being, and available for friendlies should Rob Edwards wish to include them.

It’s worth bearing in mind that while the so-called ‘rule of 11’ would apply from the first game of the season, the club does not need to submit its 25-player squad to the EFL until September 1, after the transfer window closes.

“It’s highly likely that if they are here when the season starts, they will be available for first-team games if Rob chooses to select them,” said the club’s sporting director Cristiano Giaretta.

“They would like to leave and have been looking at potential moves, but they are not causing us any problems. They are not banging on our door to get away as soon as they can.

“They will stay at the club if the market doesn’t deliver something we think is acceptable, in the same way Sarr stayed with us the last time we were in the Championship.”

Adam Masina has also told the club he wishes to leave and so has not travelled to Austria in order to pursue his options.

Similarly, striker Ashley Fletcher, whose loan at New York Red Bulls runs out next month, will be looking at other options away from Watford when he returns.

Defender Danny Rose is training with Spurs at his own request while he also attempts to secure a move away from Watford.

Both Ignacio Pussetto and Adalberto Penaranda are still under contract to the club, and are expected to be loaned out unless an offer to buy is received.
