Chelsea is not deterred as Atletico Madrid increases Omorodion’s asking price to €120m
Atletico Madrid are trying to raise funds to close many big-money signings, but despite this, there are no plans whatsoever to sell Samu Omorodion. The 20-year-old striker, currently with Spain at the Olympic Games in Paris, is firmly in Diego Simeone’s plans for the upcoming season.
Samu may not be a regular starter, especially given that Atleti are pursuing a deal for Artem Dovbyk, but he will be a valuable squad option. So far, Los Colchoneros have rejected three offers from Chelsea, who are not giving up in their pursuit of the talented youngster.
Chelsea believes that €70m may be what it takes to sign Samu, although Atleti are planning to increase their asking price further. They want to agree to a new contract, which would increase his asking price to €120m.
Especially with Antoine Griezmann coming towards the final few years of his career, Atletico Madrid must hold on to Samu, who has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world. Club bosses are certainly doing their best to ensure that he stays for the time being.
