Football legend, Kanu Nwankwo took a coaching role at the weekend as he led Team Attom to a 4-1 victory in the maiden Charity Champions Cup.

The Attom Foundation's Charity Champions Cup is a philanthropic initiative dedicated to improving the vision and health of at least 10,000 Nigerians, with a special focus on the elderly.

The program seeks to raise vital funds and awareness to tackle prevalent vision problems such as refractive errors, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma, enhancing the quality of life for countless individuals."

Kanu jokingly attributed his team's convincing win to the "Arsenal touch."

"If you look at my team, both the head coach and assistant coach are former Arsenal players," he said. "So, we had to bring a little bit of Arsenal magic. We're happy to play in the Champions Cup again next year."

Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho emerged as the hero of the match, tormenting the opposing Team Celebrities' defense led by former Super Eagles captain Jay Jay Okocha.

Iheanacho's impressive performance included a hat-trick and creating the penalty that secured his team's fourth goal. The final score remained 4-1 in favor of Team Attom.

Ironically, Team Celebrities boasted a lineup that included several current and former Super Eagles players alongside international football stars.

The likes of Ahmed Musa, Samuel Chukwueze, Kenneth Omeruo, South African legend Mark Fish, and many others featured for the team.

Despite dictating the pace of the game for much of the match, Team Celebrities were ultimately let down by missed opportunities, with Samuel Chukwueze squandering several clear chances to score.

Team Attom benefited from a strong midfield duo of Super Eagles' Wilfred Ndidi and former Arsenal player Emmanuel Eboue. Their team also included former Chelsea star Claude Makelele, comedians AY and Sabinus, among others.

The event was a lively affair, with notable music stars like Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Brother Shaggi, and several other celebrities adding to the festive atmosphere.
