Champions League: Abraham rated best among four Nigerians who played for Milan against Bratislava
Pundits rate gangling striker Tammy Abraham the best among the four Nigerians who played for AC Milan against Bratislava on Tuesday.
Milan had to fight back to record a 3-2 victory in their Champions League league phase encounter away against Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday night. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring, Rafael Leao restored the lead off the bench, and Abraham got his first Champions League goal of the season.
Pundits gave Abraham 7 out of 10 and said,” Did very well to send Pulisic through for the Milan opener, and was in the right place at the right time to capitalise on a Slovan disaster pass to get his first Champions League goal of the season.”
Defender Fikayo Tomori was rated 5.5 and according to pundits, “ Could have been a bit quicker to close down Marcelli for Slovan’s second late on.”
Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze was also 5.5 and pundits said “Saw a decent amount of the ball in the first half, but was not able to do anything particularly productive with it. “While Noah Okafor was rated 5 out of 10 and this is what pundits said about his performance, “Fonseca made the right call in changing him at half-time: Milan needed an injection of energy, and Leao was able to provide that just over 20 minutes after his introduction.
Abraham joked that he thought he should have been awarded the man of the match after grabbing a goal and an assist in Milan’s 3-2 win away against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, and noted that his teammate Rafael Leao ‘doesn’t know how good he is’.
Abraham and Leao were both on the scoresheet for Milan in Slovakia. The Portugal international took just over 20 minutes to score after coming off the bench, while the Nigerian added his side’s third less than three minutes later.
Abraham: ‘I don’t think Leao knows how good he is’
“I’m happy, I thought I was the man of the match,” he joked after full-time. “I’m happy to have helped my team with a goal and an assist. I’m happy.”
“Of course, we all want to do well and go as far as possible in this competition. We want to do the best we can, hopefully, get to the end.”
The former Chelsea and Roma striker then heaped the praise on his teammate Leao, who started on the bench but came on and scored the goal that put Milan back in front just over 20 minutes later.
“Leao is such an important player for us, I don’t think he knows how good he is. He can win games on his own, on the right day, he’s unstoppable. We have to make sure he’s full of confidence so he can help us on our journey.”
